"Whatever you do, do it well. Do it so well that when people see you doing it, they’ll want to come back to see you do it again."

Walt Disney

Ciao a tutti!

A coffee break. That’s what this newsletter is meant to be: a moment of relaxation, an invitation to calm down, despite the thousands of emails we receive every day.

Perhaps that’s why I’ve dusted off one of my film cameras: manual focus and fully mechanical settings. A return to the basics. I talk about it on the blog, and the image below is the one I liked best out of the 36 I took (yes, there’s a physical limit even on the number of shots you can take): the colour dynamics, the grain, a timeless Paris.

I’m not travelling as much as I used to, so the idea of rediscovering the city I live in is proving to be a wonderful opportunity. Walks in the 14th arrondissement or along the Seine, the first signs of spring. All of this inspires me deeply.

Just two trips recently. A weekend in Pordenone, just after Easter. The original plan was to spend a few hours in Venice before heading back, but then I decided to go to Chioggia instead. It is the Little Venice and if you have the chance, go a visit it! (if you have time, you can even reach the city directly from Venice by Vaporetto.... but it takes some time!)

Then, a second weekend in London with Sylvie and Thibault. It was here that the zine featured in this issue—which you’ll find below—was created, entirely centred around the colour red. London in the sunshine is truly something else: not even the Tube strike bothered us all that much. In fact, it simply forced us to slow down a bit.

Thank you for taking the time to read Flàneries. As promised, here is ‘CRIMSON SIGHTINGS: SEEING RED’, the latest project on London.

I hope you all are doing well!

A presto,

Luca

But precisely those things we’ve grown so used to that we no longer notice them, the things that no longer surprise us, the things that no longer even prompt us to ask a question." Georges Perec Ciao a tutti! This monumental installation by the artist JR has been erected in the heart of Paris, on one of the two spans of the Pont Neuf. It was supposed to be open by now, but due to some damage caused...

"Ci sono città il cui stesso nome evoca immediatamente un'immagine, un monumento, un evento. Sono luoghi vissuti ed esplorati quasi esclusivamente per quel loro centro magnetico. Ma cosa succede ai margini di questa grandiosità? Come appaiono le strade man mano che ci si allontana dall’attrazione principale?...

Flàneries Newsletter - #28 Chartres, March 2026 "Travel the world and the seven seasEverybody’s looking for something”Eurythmics – Sweet Dreams" Ciao a tutti! Back for another update. "There are cities whose very name immediately conjures up an image, a monument, an event. They are places experienced and explored almost exclusively for that magnetic centre of theirs. But what happens on the fringes of this grandeur? What do the streets look like as one moves away from the main attraction? Do...
